DH gets Termination of Tenancy notice!

DH wonders about her Karma sometimes.

She had only just sat back to enjoy the fruit of her hard labour, the new floor, which you will recall she paid for herself, thus increasing the value of DOH's property, when ZAP!  Being one of life's Nigel's, she can only say "Just My Luck!"

No warning notices.

Just a blunt rude and peremptory letter ordering her to vacate the premises by the 19th of February. due to rent arrears. (All of it due to DOH bungling, poor administrative procedures, a hopeless reporting system which staff cant keep up with, different staff members having different ideas about the tenancy laws and more)

But more later, DH has to go to work now.

DH lays new floor covering.

After 10 years residence, DH has finally got it together to replace the shabby, cheap and dismal DOH regulation grey carpet with a sparkling new cheap and cheerful floating floor. This stuff looks amazing. No one can believe its not wood. As if DH cd afford that ($260 per week to live on, once DOH, Austudy, HECS and ATO have their cut). With great difficulty she extracted the fact from the salesman that the stuff is actually some kind of compressed woodchips with the photograph of planks superimposed on it. But its supposed to last much longer than wood. Would IKEA lie? Anyway it will have to last, because DH paid for it all herself after years of saving. DOH doesnt replace carpet however poor the initial quality.

Anyhow, so now DH has a lifestyle, instead of just a life! It looks great, and will be so easy to keep clean.

Galloping depression...

Nice one, Geoff Gallop. Desperate Houso suffers from depression as well. Unfortunately, she cannot afford to resign from her job. She cannot live on the disability pension. Admittedly all she has to show for her fulltime job is about $70 more per week than the unlivable pension, thanks to paying $ 528.60 odd dollars DOH rent and $14.00 water rates per fortnight plus $60 HECS plus $50 Ausstudy loan. DOH can't afford to see a psychiatrist, while bulk billing shrinks are rare as hens teeth and booked out till Judgment Day, and when she tried a crisis service she was pretty much told not to bother to come back until after she had committed suicide.

Although Jeff Kennett was on Radio National bringing tears to her eyes praising Gallop's courage, she found herself smelling a rat. To her surprise she found herself thinking about Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill who carried on anyhow. When the likes of Jeff Kennett start being more politically correct than DH is, then clearly fresh thinking is needed.  And here it comes: What Capitalism needs is a recognition that workers are not machines, that depression is a natural part of life, that we all goof off sometimes, and that ALL of us need to be protected from unfair dismissal due to lapses of performance, that we are all carrying inhuman work burdens because all this leanness and meanness means that organisations do not carry any slack to cover human imperfections.

Well heigh-ho folks. Time for DH to shovel down some Zoloft, and its off to work she goes.
